Distressed Ombre is the New Ombre

As seen on some of the Spring/Summer 2017 runways, the new hit manicure sure to be seen all spring is the “distressed ombre” and is easy enough to DIY at home.

Zero + Maria Cornejo

Lead artist for Morgan Taylor Lacquer, Gina Edwards, created a manicure that spotlights the juxtaposition of textures as seen in the Zero + Maria Cornejo Spring/Summer 2017 collection. Using a matte base, Gina liberally dabbed on a mix of metallic polish, welcoming polish on the skin. No clean up necessary.

Get the look:

1. One coat of Heaven Sent with Mattes A Wrap as a top coat.
2. Sweater Weather and Metaling Around are blended together and brushed on unevenly.
3. Complete the look by dabbing Give Me Gold in random spots on the nail.

Describing the Georgine Spring/Summer 2017 collection as “a little girl playing in her mother’s closet”, lead nail artist Patti Yankee created a look using a base of bright colors and sponging the top of the nail with a dark brown, creating a grunge, distressed look.
